Dr. Monique Vanden Heuvel
Dr. Monique Vanden Heuvel grew up in Onalaska, WI where she ignited her desire to work with animals. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at UW Madison, she was commissioned as a Captain in the US Army in June 2005. She and her husband were stationed in California where she served 3 ½ years at the Lemoore Naval Air Station, as the Officer In Charge (OIC) of the Veterinary Hospital on base. While leading and training a troop of soldiers, her main focus was to ensure the health and deploy-ability of Military Working Dogs (MWD’S) to Iraq and Afghanistan during war. After 4 years she was honorably discharged and joined the small animal practice team at Care Veterinary Clinic in CA. Dr. V specialized in soft tissue surgery, dental care, and ultrasound for 7 ½ years. Realizing the importance of family, they moved back to Wisconsin and jumped on board with Silver Spring Animal Wellness Center for 3 ½ years. It was a great outlet to learn and practice Integrative Medicine and focus on Preventative Medicine.
After the birth of their twin girls, Dr. V decided it was time to start a new chapter in her career and found that Waukesha Walk In Veterinary Clinic was exactly what she was looking for!
Dr. V, her husband, and her 6 lovely children, including a feline friend (Samuel Grey), reside in Port Washington, and thoroughly enjoy the charm this town has to offer. Dr. V’s favorite activities include hanging out on the beach, traveling with family, long distance running, listening to live music and enjoying a glass of red wine.
